The 1988 Collection
1988 was the second year of production for Galoob Micro Machines. These sets introduced a heat-sealed blister attached to the card and are typically found with 1988 copyright details on the bottom. The blister insert is numbered in white. There were 24 sets released. 1988 vehicles are also found in 1987 and 1989 packaging (see below sections). These packaging variations are considered transitional possibly related to seasonal changeover.

1988 Vehicles in 1987 Packaging Style (USA Release)
The UK and Italian sets are numbered 1 through 24 since this was the normal release for those countries, but the transitional USA packages are not numbered. Note: The European Collection (from the USA) includes the black Rolls Royce found only in this configuration and an Awesome Collection.

1988 Vehicles in 1989 Packaging Style (USA Release)
These sets include 1988 vehicles on 1989 USA card style. The assumption is these were remaining vehicles from the prior year that were used up for 1989.

Foreign Collection Examples for 1988
The only conforming 1988 packaging style sets released outside the USA are known from France and Argentina (where the Jocsa and import stickers are the primary identifiers). All other 1988 vehicles in foreign packaging appeared to use the 1987 configuration such as the UK and Italy. (But with numbering in yellow.)
